Modern Prairie Bathroom

This master bathroom project

is a testament to what can be done within the confines of one’s existing space. It literally was un-utilized space within the existing footprint of its 1954 ranch house. The homeowner was seeking a master bathroom, apart from the main bath. We were able to utilize an awkward, unused space right off the dining room and convert it to a master bathroom that naturally connects to the master bedroom.

The bathroom is multi-faceted as it serves as a master bathroom / walk-in closet for the homeowner. Luke and Katie worked alongside the homeowner to configure a layout that would include a double bowl sink, walk-in shower, toilet nook, and closet space.
Katie and the homeowner worked together to select fixtures and finish details that expressed the homeowners style and function.
The floor tile, shower tile, Bertch cabinet and countertop were sourced through Fishsticks Millwork.
Shower design, designed by Katie Patterson

The doors and trim were custom ordered and painted or stained to match existing doors throughout the house. Doors and trim were supplied by Builders Select. All plumbing fixtures were sourced and selected from McDonald Supply in Waterloo, IA.

The project was no easy task as the new master bathroom location was located on a slab of concrete in an old 3 season room. Wes Gardner with Gardner Plumbing had to bust out concrete on the main floor and into the basement to connect the new plumbing to the main stack located on the other end of the house. Bergen Plumbing & Heating ran a new heat run into the bathroom.

Loved delivering this stunning “Modern Prairie” bathroom to our clients! Being able to utilize existing spaces to better fit a homeowner’s lifestyle is what drives us. Got an awkward space that you don’t know what to do with? Shoot us an email so we can get it working for you.
